Primary & Middle Year

At ASIS we also follow the U. S Common Core Curriculum from Grade 1-6, as does the Early Years. The Common Core is a set of academic standards that every student is expected to learn in each grade level, from kindergarten through high school. The goal of the Common Core is to help students graduate with the skills they need to succeed in college and in the workforce. Another goal is to make sure students are getting a strong education, which will help them in their future studies no matter where they live in.

The Common Core State Standards are internationally bench marked. This means that our standards will compare favorably to standards of other countries. The Common Core State Standards assessments give teachers a tool to monitor students’ progress throughout the year. This gives teachers an avenue to compare an individual student’s progress instead of one student against another. The Common Core State Standards assessments are more authentically matched to a child’s learning experience.

We have bi- weekly specialist classes including Art, PE, Music, Taekwondo and Robotics along with our regular clubs dancing, singing, creative writing, hand writing, glass painting, paper crafting, spelling, debate etc. that all our students look forward to participating in each year.

We make our curriculum relevant & irresistible to children. Working as a team, our staff devises detailed plans, which ensure that all of the requirements of the curriculum are met. Teachers’ plans are revised when necessary to ensure all needs are met.

The basic skills of reading, writing, numeracy and oral communication are always emphasized and assessed.
